Wotte was tasked to implement the recommendations from Henry McLeish's review.

Suggesting this came from Levein is revisionism but I do totally agree that Cathro's youth development at Dundee Utd was very successful.

"Performance director Mark Wotte says 2020 will determine whether the Scottish FA's regional performance school project is a success.
Wotte, who says it is the first of its kind in the world, launched the scheme along with Scotland coach Craig Levein."

BBC

McLeish suggested the schools in his review, but Levein appointed Wotte and they set the schools up.  Without Levein there would've been no Performance Schools.

suggests all the recommendations were from Henry McLeish.  I don't see Levein getting any mention in either the above or it's predecessor which was the "original" vision:

These would have happened regardless of Levein being in post.

great

until clubs still don't give them a game as some aging average expensively paid foreigner is ahead of them in the team

Hopefully nor can some old expensively paid Scotsman although we do like to have the oldest international squads.

I know what you mean and I have used the phrase myself but there must be more to it than that

I'm not sure there is

eg Owen Coyle on radio last night talking about getting Chris Eagles in

nother chance for a youngster to get game time up there diminished

it's short term gain for long term pain
