Reckon Caixinha was a bit of a clown, but do wonder if there’s an element of that narrow minded Scottish attitude that also made Iain Cathros job untenable from day one... There definitely is an element of this about it. Not sure if it was Miller or one of the other players but someone definitely tried to undermine him in a way that did not happen with Warburton. Hearts' recruitment over the last couple of years has been shambolic. Cathro arrived and had a very thin squad, he then had his best player get a season ending injury. Hearts then had to sign 8 or 9 players in January, mostly on short term deals. Merging so many new players with existing and trying to get them performing would be a troubling task for even the most experienced manager, never mind a rookie. Now, regardless of all this, the job Cathro done wasn't good enough. However it's only fair to look fairly at the reasons for the failure, although i appreciate it's easier for thickos to say "Cathro was pure pish byraway". The man most responsible for the current struggles of Hearts is the guy who's been Director of Football and responsible for player recruitment, who now sits in the dugout. Largely because he persuaded a dubious Budge to appoint Cathro in the first place, and then had to be forced by her to sack Cathro after the LC games. So he is very much to blame.
